Beware When Travelling To India
This the fact. One of my friend was harassed at Ahmadabad airport. Took extra two hours and duty of Rs.25000/ for his and his wife's few jewellery on body. My one ring is 6 grams. That is valued in India Rs13000. So only for a ring I would be liable for import duty on Rs. 3000. There is no provision to document that those jewellery pieces would be taken back by the visitor. Also check new rules by India,s Income tax dept. Any one staying there over sixty days would beep required to pay income tax in India for the all income around the world.
